Nature and Man
Nowadays, more and more people are born and grow up in cities, they lose daily contact with Nature, their idea of Nature is rather vague and non experiential, so they think that they are independent of and above Nature, or even can live without Nature.
Modern people tend to think that human values, that is, the goal of an individual and the society, what satisfy them and the society etc., are purely cultural products or a sort of human choice at will. Is that true?
Basic Human Values come from Nature !
That people all find most natural nutritious foods delicious, having sex with the one they love to be one of the most joyous things in the world, etc. are some of the important experiences in people's daily life that are not learned and are not alterable by one's own will. The attachment of deliciousness with natural nutritious foods and the attachment of great joy with having sex with one's love one are in fact some of the basic values set by Nature. We cannot enjoy having our love one hate us although quite a lot of people would rather turn this sort of experience to be joyous also, nor can we make ourselves feel rotten food tasty although starving people would wish this to be so.
Some people would retort that all these come only as a matter of course. People who don't enjoy natural nutritious food are more prone to be unhealthy, have diseases and collectively they have less chance to inherit their behavior traits to the young, that is why we rarely see such people in the world.
This is of course one of Nature's way to sustain life. Yet from this alone we can already see people's dependence on Nature's arrangement within people's mind for their sustenance. What people can succeed to retort is only that Nature do not have human form of thinking. But as already mentioned previously that Nature possesses transcendental power and wisdom , Nature need not and would not take on a human form, only that the joyous or sufferous experiences is exactly what Nature make people have. If Nature is unable to enable life to be able to experience these joyful experiences, people simply can not have and invent these experiences at all.
Again, people may go on attacking that these joyous experiences are not the goal of life, but are means to sustain and evolve life, or even not any means, only that they must occur together with life as a matter of course.
The key point here is that must joyous experiences occur together with life? It seems to be more "natural" that living things eat and copulate by means of complex, stage wise reflect actions. Robots, an incomparably simpler design, can act without any internal senses, why can't living things.
Another point, Human life do not exist basically as a form of public experiences. Public experiences in fact exist only in people's thinking and in the interpretation of one's own private senses. Basically human life exists as a conglomerate of senses, emotions, and flow of thoughts, yet they are all private experiences. Thinking in terms of public experiences, we find that joyous experiences is a means; when thinking subjectively, or in terms of one's own sense experiences, we find that joyous experiences is an end, that is, we act in order to find joy for ourselves, even if we act consciously to sustain our lives, that is only because we wish by doing so we can maximize the satisfaction of our lives.
So that, we should view joyous experiences and life sustenance in this way:
Life is a carrier of senses and values, but not all sorts of senses and values are permitted, pursuance of forbidden ones will lead to the threat or even discontinuance of life as an individual and as a whole.
Life Sustenance is also a means to ensure life to pursue the kinds of senses and values set by Nature, it is not an end in itself.
